Major supermarkets in South Korea have introduced low-cost wines produced under their own brands (Private Brand, PB) that have impressed experts in recent blind tastings. Despite the wines being priced under 10,000 won, they received higher-than-expected price evaluations due to their quality, showcasing a high value-for-money ratio. Particularly noteworthy were the 'Vineyard Chardonnay' from Homeplus and the 'L Wine Cabernet Sauvignon' from Lotte Mart, which scored higher than anticipated.
Experts noted the improvement in quality of low-cost wines and highlighted their role in expanding the everyday wine culture in South Korea. The blind tasting was conducted by wine experts, following international wine organization standards, assessing factors such as appearance, smell, taste, and balance. The event suggests that low-cost wines could help revitalize the domestic wine market, appealing to cost-conscious consumers while maintaining quality.
