Korean National Theater to Host "Changgeuk-Centric World Music Theater Festival" in September

The Korean National Theater has announced its 2025-2026 season lineup, which includes a new "Changgeuk-Centric World Music Theater Festival" taking place in September, as well as a "Korean Traditional Dance Festival" in October. The season will showcase a total of 72 productions and 436 performances, featuring new works and collaborations with public and private art groups. The highlight of the music theater festival will center on East Asian works from Korea, China, and Japan, with notable performances like the changgeuk (a type of traditional Korean music drama) production "Simcheong". The theater aims to expand the festival's range globally in future seasons. Also noteworthy is the "2025 Korean Traditional Dance Festival" which will celebrate regional traditional dance styles across Korea.
