Nongshim Launches 'Wasabi Shrimp Cracker' and 'Cleopatra Salt & Wasabi Chips'

Nongshim, a leading snack manufacturer in South Korea, is set to release new products flavored with wasabi (a spicy Japanese condiment). The 'Wasabi Shrimp Cracker' offers a twist on the classic shrimp-based snack, introducing a spicy wasabi kick, and will debut in August, marking the first new addition to the shrimp cracker line-up in four years. The decision to introduce a wasabi-flavored snack came after observing increasing mentions of wasabi on social media, which rose from 850,000 in 2022 to 1.35 million in 2024. Additionally, in taste tests at a shrimp cracker pop-up store last year, consumers favored the wasabi variant. Alongside, Nongshim will also launch 'Cleopatra Salt & Wasabi Chips,' a potato chip variation, available from July 14. Both snacks aim to capture the growing trend and are designed to be both a refreshing daily snack and a perfect pairing with drinks.
