Yeosu City Selected to Host Next Year's 'Island Day' Events

Yeosu City in Jeollanam-do has been chosen as the host for the 7th 'Island Day' event on August 8, 2024, as announced by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. 'Island Day' is a national holiday aimed at promoting the value and importance of islands, with various commemorative activities taking place around August 8. Yeosu was selected due to its strong transportation and tourism infrastructure, as well as its island tourism resources. The city's selection also aligns well with the upcoming Yeosu World Island Expo in 2026. This year's 'Island Day' events will occur with the theme 'Explore Islands Slowly' in Wando County, Jeollanam-do, from December 7 to 10.
