In South Korea, wholesale prices of cabbage and radish have fallen to half of what they were last year. Cabbage, a key ingredient in dishes like kimchi (fermented vegetable side dish), is now priced at 424 KRW per kg, down 53.8% from the previous year. The decrease in price is attributed to a better supply situation following last year's high prices and adverse weather conditions that affected growth. While the prices are low now, it's uncertain if they will remain stable during the peak expensive season in September. The government is working on measures to prevent a price surge similar to last year.
Radishes are also at their lowest price of the year, now 338 KRW per kg, a significant drop from 736 KRW. Other vegetables like lettuce and carrots have also seen a considerable price drop.
