The Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra is recruiting talented musicians in six areas including violin, cello, horn, trumpet, bass trombone, and percussion to enhance its artistic capabilities and stability. Under the new music director Jaap van Zweden, who took the position in January 2024, the orchestra aims to elevate to world-class status with a wide repertoire from classical to contemporary. The ambitious project to perform and record all Mahler symphonies requires over 100 performers due to the grand scale and deep emotional expression of the works. Additionally, significant performances like the opera 'Tristan und Isolde' in December necessitate capable guest musicians. Applications are accepted from July 1 to August 4, open to students, overseas Koreans, and foreigners who can work in Korea. Successful candidates will participate in auditions in August and begin activities in September.
