In a rare occurrence, the Catholic Peace Newspaper, published by the Archdiocese of Seoul, devoted a full page to an interview with Won Buddhist cleric Park Cheong-su, sometimes referred to as 'Mother Park' or 'Korea's Mother Teresa.' Park was honored with a gratitude plaque for his 50 years of service to St. Lazarus Village, a facility for leprosy patients in South Korea. Despite religious differences, Park has considered St. Lazarus Village a 'second home,' supporting it financially and emotionally since 1975. Moreover, Park's philanthropic work has extended globally to over 55 countries, and he is renowned for his unique approach of helping through "intuitive" support without formal meetings, relying on personal initiative and the goodwill of his supporters. An 88-year-old cleric from a Won Buddhist family, Park plans to have a museum opened in his hometown to commemorate his life's work and inspire future generations.
