Seoul has been ranked 5th in the newly released 'Yanolja Attractiveness Index', which evaluates global tourist cities based on the charm and popularity determined by social media discussions. Developed by Yanolja Research in collaboration with Purdue University and Kyung Hee University, the index focuses on attractiveness and reputation from the perspective of actual tourists. Seoul excelled in experiential content through food and shopping, and showcased its natural beauty features like the Han River and Namsan. Seoul's cultural and historical offerings, such as hanbok (traditional Korean clothing) and hansik (traditional Korean food), also received positive attention. Additionally, Jeju and Busan showed improvement in rankings, emphasizing their natural and cultural appeal. The research emphasizes growing trends in Asian cities and stresses the importance of cities identifying their unique attractions to remain competitive. The index will be released annually to track changes in global tourism trends.
