Celebrated pianist Christian Zimmerman and conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen led the New York Philharmonic in an impressive collaboration at Seoul Arts Center. This performance marked Zimmerman's return to performing in the United States after a long hiatus since criticizing US policies on his home country Poland in 2009. The concert exhibited Zimmerman's perfectionist approach, choosing to use his piano instead of venue-provided instruments. His rendition of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 showcased immense skill, balance, and innovative expression. The New York Philharmonic continued the concert with a passionate performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 'Eroica', concluding with encore pieces by Bach and Beethoven, eliciting enthusiastic applause from the audience.
