Starbucks Korea Introduces Plant-Based Plastic Straws

Starbucks Korea is reintroducing plastic straws in 200 stores nationwide, seven years after switching to paper straws to reduce environmental impact. The decision comes as customers expressed dissatisfaction with paper straws becoming soggy and having a 'paper taste'. The new plastic straws are made from a plant-based material derived from sugarcane and will be recycled. This trial will first take place in hospitals and residential areas, considering the needs of various customers such as patients and young children.
