Researchers at the Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine have discovered that the stomach medicine Rebamipide, traditionally used to treat gastritis and ulcers, shows promise in treating Parkinson's disease. This finding is rooted in traditional Korean medicine, which suggests a connection between stomach and brain functions (concept of "BiJuSa", where the spleen governs thought). The study found that Rebamipide could increase dopamine neuron survival and reduce brain inflammation, offering potential new treatment pathways for neurodegenerative diseases. These findings were published in the international journal 'Journal of Neuroinflammation'.
