The 'Van Gogh in Daejeon' exhibition closed on June 22nd after three months, setting a record for the most visitors in the city's art exhibition history. Held at the Daejeon Museum of Art and nearby Hanbat Arboretum, the event attracted over 240,000 visitors. It was the first solo retrospective of Van Gogh held in a local public art museum in South Korea, showcasing 76 artworks from different periods. The museum emphasized on accessibility and included features such as guided audio tours narrated by actor Ji Chang-wook. Despite the large crowd, the exhibition was accident-free, highlighting the mature cultural attitude of its visitors. The event also boosted local tourism, integrating city tours and nearby attractions, thus positioning Daejeon as a cultural and tourist destination.
