Korean writer Gangnam and director Lee Junwoo are adapting H.G. Wells' 1906 sci-fi story 'The Door in the Wall' into a solo performance titled 'The Door in the Wall.' Scheduled to be showcased at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts from July 31 to August 2 as part of the experimental art project 'Sync Next,' the performance explores human longing manifested as a metaphorical door. The story revolves around a politically successful man, Wallace, who experienced a mysterious, blissful occurrence as a child upon discovering a green door in a wall, but never opens such doors again in adulthood. The performance emphasizes psychological portrayal, with one actor playing two roles, Wallace and his friend Redmond. This is part of an ongoing project aiming for full premiere by 2026, involving innovative audio-visual elements and dramatic readings.
