The fashion industry in Korea is experiencing a significant increase in sales of rainwear items like raincoats, rain boots, and umbrellas, due to the monsoon season arriving two weeks early this year. Functional clothing and waterproof items are rapidly selling as consumers prepare for the rainy season. The collaboration between brands like BYC and designer brands such as Minjukim has led to stylish adaptations of typically practical items, such as floral patterned boots, which are gaining popularity. Additionally, retro jelly shoes are seeing a rise in demand among the younger generation, known as the MZ generation (MZ세대, refers to Millennials and Generation Z). As rain becomes more frequent, demand for breathable jelly shoes and cooling clothing with enhanced functionality is expected to grow even further.
