With the resolution of political turmoil following the impeachment of former President Yoon Seok-yeol, South Korea is seeing an increase in Chinese tourists. The Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post reported a 24% increase in South Korean travel reservations from China between April and June compared to earlier months when political unrest led to a 12% decrease. Especially during the Lunar New Year (Chunje), a peak travel period, visits slowed due to turmoil. As stability returns with President Lee Jae-myung's government, and the temporary visa waiver for Chinese group tourists planned for the third quarter, the demand for travel to South Korea is expected to rise sharply.
