The Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced a significant investment of 352 billion won ($260 million) over five years to develop core technologies for eco-friendly textile materials. This initiative aims to enable Korean companies to adapt to the global shift towards sustainable fashion by focusing on the recycling of polyester composite fibers. Major global brands like Zara and Nike aim to fully incorporate recycled textiles by 2030, and the EU plans mandatory eco-friendly labeling from 2028. Participating organizations can apply for this year's project by March 27, 2022. An explanatory session will be held on March 12, 2022, in Seoul.
