Yeowoorak Festival 2025: A Fusion of Traditional Folk Music and Modern Genres

The '2025 Yeowoorak Festival', a prominent summer event by the National Theater of Korea, will commence on December 4th. Directed by Heemun Lee, an artistic director renowned for his innovative approach to traditional Korean folk music (Minyo), the festival aims to provide an escape from the tough times. This year's event, marking the festival's 16th edition, will feature performances based on three themes: Guardians, Magicians, and Alchemists. Esteemed folk musicians and cross-genre collaborations including pop, jazz, and traditional instruments will highlight the festival, which concludes on December 26th. The festival’s name 'Yeowoorak' stands for 'Here is Our Music (樂)', highlighting its dedication to the fusion of traditional and contemporary musical styles.
