Treasures of Early Joseon: Ceramics, Paintings, and Buddhist Art

The National Museum of Korea in Yongsan is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a special exhibition titled 'Art of Early Joseon'. This exhibition highlights the transformation of ceramics after the Goryeo celadon era, the persistent influence of Buddhist art amid a Confucianist society, and the evolution of Korean landscapes in paintings. Visitors can see 691 items, including National Treasures and cultural assets, with 23 pieces shown for the first time. Notable exhibits include ceramics illustrating the shift from Goryeo's celadon pottery, various landscape paintings, and the 'Wooden Seated Buddha' statue. The grand finale showcases the Hunminjeongeum Haeryebon (the explanation book on the creation of Hangul). The exhibition is open until August 31, with free entry from June 10-15.
