Record High Korea-Japan Flights Despite Yen's Decline

The number of air passengers traveling between South Korea and Japan surpassed 11.24 million from January to May this year, hitting an all-time high. Despite high inflation, the prolonged low Japanese yen has made travel to Japan more attractive due to perceived lower expenses. The expansion of flight routes by airlines, including low-cost carriers (LCC), has fueled this demand. Korean Air and Jin Air, among others, have introduced new regional routes in Japan. The weak yen and LCC promotions have enhanced Japan's appeal as a value-for-money travel destination. Passenger trends show a steady rise, with over 2 million travelers monthly since October last year.
