Professor Ji-hwan Yoo from KAIST received the prestigious Best Paper Award from the IEEE Robotics Journal at the International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) held in Atlanta. Among over 1,500 papers, only five were awarded. The award-winning paper proposes a new work channel technology that significantly expands the application of soft growing robots, which mimic the growing motion of plant roots. This technology allows the robot to maintain flexibility while securing internal channels, overcoming previous challenges in soft robot design.
