South Korea's court has nullified the expulsion of Venerable Myung Jin, a former abbot of Bongeunsa Temple, by the Jogye Order. In 2017, Myung Jin was expelled after criticizing the order on a radio show, which allegedly harmed the reputation of Buddhist monks and the Jogye Order. The Seoul Central District Court ruled partially in favor of Venerable Myung Jin, recognizing the expulsion as invalid; however, the monk's compensation claim was dismissed due to the statute of limitations.
