Researchers in South Korea have discovered a non-invasive method to efficiently remove waste from the brain, which could help prevent dementia. The team, led by Kyu-Young Koh from the Institute for Basic Science (IBS) and KAIST, found that brain waste can be expelled through lymphatic vessels beneath the skin of the face and neck. Experiments showed that precise physical stimulation of these pathways significantly increases cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) discharge, facilitating the cleaning of brain waste. Published in 'Nature,' this breakthrough offers new hope for research into neurodegenerative diseases.
