KT&G Considering North European Nicotine Pouch Acquisition

KT&G, a major Korean tobacco company, is exploring potential acquisitions of nicotine pouch (chewing tobacco) companies in Northern Europe. Nicotine pouches are non-combustible tobacco products that allow nicotine absorption through the gums. While the South Korean market for these products is not large, they are popular in the US and Europe. KT&G aims to expand into a diverse range of 'modern products' as part of their growth strategy, marking its first major acquisition initiative in 14 years since acquiring an Indonesian tobacco manufacturer in 2011.
