Touching Messages of 101 Korean Artists in 'Iman Chongchong' Exhibition

The Kimdaljin Art Documentation Museum in Seoul is hosting the 'Iman, Chongchong: Letters from Artistic Figures' exhibition until August 8th. The exhibition features letters from 101 prominent Korean modern and contemporary artists such as Kim Whanki and Nam June Paik, showcasing 136 selected items including envelopes and postcards.
The term 'Chongchong' represents hurried footsteps in Chinese characters, while also evoking the imagery of twinkling stars in Korean language. The exhibition explores the artists' emotional exchanges, relationships, and era's sentiments through their written correspondence.
With three sections, the exhibition covers artists' personal connections, notable letters, and livelihood during different periods. Visitors can engage with sound archives and touch screen guides to delve deeper into each letter's context, allowing a unique glimpse into South Korea’s art history.
