The Gyechon Classic Festival, a renowned classic music event, will take place in the rural village of Gyechon-ri, Pyeongchang from November 6-8. Supported by Hyundai Chung Mong-Koo Foundation, Korea National University of Arts, and Gyechon Classic Festival Committee, the festival began in 2015 and has since grown to become a leading nature-friendly classical music festival in South Korea. Despite the village's small size with just 2,000 residents, more than 20,000 attendees are expected. The festival will feature performances by acclaimed artists including pianists Baek Geon-woo and Jo Seong-jin, drawing music enthusiasts to the idyllic natural landscape. Highlights include a variety of orchestral and solo performances by talented musicians like soprano Hong Hye-ran, jazz vocalist Na Yun-seon, and more. In addition to concerts, there will be street performances, cultural programs, a flea market, food stalls showcasing local produce, a drone light show, and photo spots. The festival aims to offer not just performances but a warm emotional experience in nature. Festival Chairperson Jang Young-jin remarked on the festival’s intention to provide a special moment where art touches hearts and invites attendees to enjoy music in harmony with nature.
