Income Disparity Affects Exercise and Lifespan in Korea

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) released the 2023 National Health and Nutrition Survey, revealing an increasing disparity in physical activity based on income level. Higher income groups were more likely to engage in aerobic exercises and muscle-strengthening activities compared to lower income groups. This gap has widened over the past nine years, highlighting the influence of economic status on health behaviors. Additionally, income disparity also affects lifespan, with wealthier regions showing significantly longer life expectancies. Similar findings were reported in the UK, indicating a global trend where socio-economic conditions impact health outcomes, including lifespan.
