Due to an oversupply of pop-up stores and rising costs, South Korean retailers are exploring new strategies to differentiate themselves. They are focusing on 'regional conquer-type' and 'online-offline linked' pop-up stores. The regional strategy involves spreading brand spaces across specific areas, like the successful 'Adidas Ground Seongsu' event in Seoul's hotspot Seongsu-dong. The online-offline strategy combines physical experiences with digital engagement, exemplified by RXC's retail media platform, Prism. This trend allows consumers to connect continuously with brands, enhancing both in-person and online experiences. As the number of pop-ups rose to an average of 140 per month last year, uniqueness has become crucial to combat customer fatigue from repetitive concepts.
