Klaus Mäkelä, a 29-year-old conductor from Finland, is rapidly ascending through the ranks of the classical music scene. Currently leading the Paris Orchestra and Oslo Philharmonic, Mäkelä will become the chief conductor of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (RCO) in 2027. Known for his unique conducting style that emphasizes freedom and deep understanding of the music, Mäkelä is set to visit Korea for performances in November. Raised in a family of musicians, he was inspired by the opera 'Carmen' at age seven, igniting his dream of becoming a conductor. His Finnish roots and training are evident in his restrained yet profound style. Apart from music, Mäkelä enjoys amateur photography, documenting everyday life.
