South Korea is becoming a sought-after event travel destination, largely due to the influence of K-pop. This development is being highlighted at major global travel conferences like Trip.com's 'Envision', which sees participation from 74 countries with over 3,000 attendees. According to Jongmin Hong, Trip.com's Korea General Manager, K-pop performances are drawing international visitors to Korea, transforming the country from a mere travel destination to a content-driven event hotspot. The increase in bookings for 2024 compared to 2023 illustrates this growth. Furthermore, Korea is now recognized as a strategic market within Trip.com, with significant growth observed across hotel bookings, flight sales, and tours. Events like concerts by stars such as G-Dragon and IU are popular among travelers. Additionally, the senior demographic is emerging as important customers, reflecting a trend in elderly-friendly travel. Efforts to promote less-known regions alongside main cities like Seoul and Busan are also underway, emphasizing Korea's growing appeal globally.
