Hwaeomsa Temple, associated with the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, is hosting a special exhibition titled "Yeonhwa" (which means lotus in Korean) until November 27. The exhibition is held at Hwaeomsa's Sacred Treasure Museum and Bojeryu in Gurye County, Jeollanam-do Province, and features works by avant-garde artists including dancer Hong Shin-ja and visual artist Lee Sang-yong. The exhibition translates the Buddhist symbolism of the lotus, representing enlightenment and spiritual growth, through contemporary dance and art. The event offers a unique cultural experience, merging tradition with modernity in a thousand-year-old temple setting.
