This summer, luxury hotels like Grand Intercontinental Seoul Parnas are releasing ultra-high-end bingsu (a Korean shaved ice dessert) with prices peaking at ₩150,000. The 'Belle Epoque Champagne Bingsu', partnering with French champagne house Perrier-Jouët, is the most expensive option, surpassing the previous top-priced mango bingsu by a slight margin. Other offerings include Jeju Apple Mango Bingsu and Acai Berry Bingsu. At Seoul Shilla Hotel, the original apple mango bingsu ('Aemang-bing') inspired new creations like Truffle Ice Cream, enhancing the gourmet experience with ingredients like black truffle and French dessert wine. The trend represents a small luxury for special occasions, yet hotels report limited profit impact due to high ingredient costs.
