South Korea's Textile Sector Achieves Designation as Specialized Root Industry Complexes

The South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has selected three textile industry complexes — Pocheon Yangmun, Yangju Geomjun, and Daegu — as 'specialized root industry complexes' for 2025. This designation aims to resolve environmental and location issues in concentrated areas of root industries. The success marks a significant achievement for the textile sector amidst fierce competition from other industries. This initiative follows last year's designation of the first-ever textile complexes, Banwol and Busan. These complexes receive government support to enhance shared facilities and innovation projects. The Korea Federation of Textile Industries and other related organizations played pivotal roles, advocating persistently for these designations and supports. Chairman Choi Byung-oh expects the initiatives will improve the manufacturing environment and boost competitiveness within the sector, especially under current global supply chain uncertainties and economic challenges.
