The controversy surrounding 'alcohol-interviews' at TheBorn Korea, run by Baek Jong-won (a famous Korean chef and entrepreneur), was concluded not to be workplace harassment. The Ministry of Employment and Labor decided the case couldn't be legally processed because the alleged victim wasn't recognized as an employee under the Labor Standards Act, but rather as a business owner. The incident involved an executive calling a female applicant to an alcohol meeting under the guise of a second interview, where inappropriate comments and attempts of physical contact were alleged. The executive has since resigned, and TheBorn Korea is conducting an external investigation.
