Cutting-edge technologies like media art, virtual reality (VR), and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are breathing new life into South Korea's cultural heritage, allowing iconic works like Shin Yun-bok's 'Beauty' to transcend spatial, linguistic, and cultural barriers and reach a global audience. At the 'Pixel and Paint' event in Seoul, the Kansong Art Museum highlighted their aim to expand Korea's cultural range through 'K-Heritage.' They are experimenting with how to introduce exquisite cultural heritage to foreigners and younger generations. A notable project involves transforming Shin Yun-bok’s artworks into NFTs, allowing worldwide appreciation and ownership. The Kansong Art Museum previously gained attention for applying NFT technology to the Hunminjeongeum Haeryebon (the original documentation of the Korean script created in the 15th century) in 2021. Furthermore, a media art exhibition in Seoul's Dongdaemun Design Plaza successfully showcased 'K-Heritage' to an international audience. Experts suggest digitalization of national heritage can enhance the impact on industries like gaming and dramas, while also working to overcome technological changes and maintenance challenges.
