Starbucks will install kiosks (unmanned order systems) in 10 stores across Seoul and Jeju in Korea, marking its first move towards unmanned ordering in Korea and Japan. The first kiosks in Korea will be installed in the Myeongdong area of Seoul, a bustling area with many foreign tourists. Customers can start using these kiosks from early next month. This change aims to increase efficiency during busy times, aligning with the approach of other major coffee franchises. Additionally, Starbucks Korea has been introducing vibrating pagers in over 150 of its 2000 stores since the latter half of 2023 to improve service efficiency. This shift towards technological integration follows their earlier success of introducing mobile ordering, Siren Order, in 2014.
