Chuncheon Mime Festival Opens with Water-themed Extravaganza

The Chuncheon Mime Festival, one of the world's top three mime festivals, began in Chuncheon, South Korea. The opening event, 'Ah! Water Plaza,' transformed a 1km road into a car-free space for citizens, artists, and mimes to perform water-themed acts. Participants used water guns and hoses, turning the venue into a massive water playground. The festival aims to express liberation through art and features international performers, like a Japanese mime with acrobatic skills. The festival, originating in 1989, has become a global event, drawing over 120,000 visitors annually and featuring mime troupes from 10 countries. This year's theme is 'Body Scenery.'
