In Rome, renowned Korean temple cuisine expert, Monk Jungkwan, alongside Italian chef, Fabrizio Ferrari, introduced the deep flavors and philosophy of Korean cuisine. From November 19-21, they hosted a series of events at the Garum Cooking Museum, including a masterclass for Italian chefs featuring dishes like bibimbap, bulgogi, and soybean paste stew. Monk Jungkwan also demonstrated Korean traditional fermentation techniques, including a live demonstration of making doenjang (fermented soybean paste) with meju. An 8-course Korean dinner was prepared with the participation of local chefs, and a talk by Fabrizio Ferrari explored the contemporary and traditional aspects of Korean cuisine. The event attracted significant local interest, highlighting the cultural exchange between Korea and Italy, in celebration of the '2024-2025 Korea-Italy Cultural Exchange Year.'
