K-Beauty counterfeit products are increasing as South Korea's cosmetics exports reached a record high of $10.2 billion last year. Malicious sellers replicate popular items using e-commerce platforms like Amazon, eBay, and SNS such as Instagram and TikTok for sales. A survey showed 70.8% of U.S consumers unknowingly purchased fake items, with 43% buying from SNS and 38% via e-commerce. Despite new policies to combat this, monitoring remains insufficient due to high transaction volumes. Counterfeits harm brands, as buyers think they're purchasing Korean products but end up with unsafe duplicates not approved by Korea's Food and Drug Administration equivalent. With adverse effects emerging, concerns are increasing over safety and authenticity in the market.
