Celebrating 50 Years of Cello: Yang Sung-won's Journey

Korean cellist Yang Sung-won recently released the album 'Echo of Elegy,' featuring Elgar's Cello Concerto and Piano Quintet. This album marks Yang's musical journey spanning 50 years. He began playing cello at age seven and currently serves as director of the PyeongChang Daegwallyeong Music Festival, expanding classical music's reach in Korea. To celebrate the album's launch, Yang will perform a 'Concerto Marathon Project' on October 27 at Seoul's Arts Center, featuring concertos by Tchaikovsky, Elgar, and Dvorak. Yang aims to express gratitude to all who have accompanied him on his musical path. He also emphasizes the importance of passing classical music heritage to future generations as both a performer and educator. This year’s PyeongChang Daegwallyeong Music Festival, starting July 23, is themed 'Interharmony' and has garnered significant interest. Yang’s contribution to music is significant as he was recently awarded the Moosan Culture Award for Arts.
