Seocheon County, located in the southwest of Chungnam province along South Korea's western coast, is gaining attention for its mysterious 'sea fireflies'. These bioluminescent plankton, scientifically known as 'Noctiluca scintillans', beautifully illuminate the night sea with blue fluorescence similar to stars or auroras. The best viewing time is during dark nights at high tide when these organisms are brought close to the shore by the tide.
