Chungju City in South Korea has announced the release of a new high-quality rice variety called 'Jungwon Jinmi' to farmers this year. Developed by Chungju's Agricultural Technology Center in collaboration with the Rural Development Administration, this variety—initially named 'Jeonju 679'—is noted for its disease resistance and delicious taste. The name embodies the historical name of Chungju, 'Jungwon,' and means authentic rice and exquisite taste. Plans include expanding cultivation to 1000 hectares by 2028 and various promotional activities. This development aims to revitalize the local rice industry.
