In a new production, 'The First Great Show', Seoul Municipal Musical Company portrays the tumultuous journey of creating Korea's first musical in the 1960s. From May 29 to June 15 at Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, the show blends imagination and humor to depict the birth of musicals in Korea. With historical references like the staging of American musical 'Porgy and Bess' in the 60s, and the creation of the original Korean musical 'Saljjagi Obseoye' by the Yegrin Orchestra, the production is a colorful meta-musical that highlights the struggles and successes of Korean musical pioneers. This fictional story is influenced by various musical episodes and features a vibrant cast, promising entertainment alongside cultural reflections.
