Seoul City Musical Company's new production, 'The First Great Show,' is inspired by the story of Korea's first musical, 'Saljjagi Opseoye,' created by the Yegreen Company in 1966 at the Sejong Center (then Seoul Citizen Hall). The musical weaves historical facts with fictional elements to provide humor and emotion. The storyline revolves around the Central Intelligence Agency's (an organization involved in state security) attempt in the late 1960s to produce a show to surpass North Korea’s theatrical capabilities. 'The First Great Show' pays homage to classic musicals, featuring melodies from famous shows like 'Les Misérables.' It aims to share the joy of Korean musical history with a wider audience, showcasing the passion and challenges faced by the pioneers of Korean musicals.
