The Yanggu County Park Soo-keun Museum recently acquired the painting 'Magnolia' by Park Soo-keun, a renowned figure in Korean modern art, through an art auction. Created in 1963, this oil painting is noted for its thick texture and restrained colors, featuring a simplified depiction of a magnolia flower. The artwork holds symbolic significance, representing the resilience and recovery of post-war Korean society. This marks the painting's return to Park's hometown, Yanggu, after 60 years. Additionally, another of Park's works, 'Girl Carrying a Baby,' will be auctioned soon with a starting price of approximately 750 million KRW.
