Auction of Park Soo-keun's 'The Girl with a Baby on Her Back'

Renowned Korean painter Park Soo-keun's 1964 artwork 'The Girl with a Baby on Her Back' is set to be auctioned with an estimated price of 750 million won ($630,000 USD) in May. This piece, characterized by its thick texture, simplified forms, and limited color palette, exemplifies Park's unique aesthetic style from the late 1950s to 1960s. The auction will be conducted by K Auction and includes 112 works worth a total of 13.1 billion won, featuring items from other notable artists like Yayoi Kusama and Harold Ancart, as well as a valuable Joseon-era moon jar (Dal-hang-ari, a traditional Korean porcelain jar). The exhibition is open for free viewing from May 17 to the auction day on May 28.
