With the global rise of K-culture, interest in K-fashion is increasing. Many global fashion brands are collaborating with Korean companies, moving beyond simple distribution to jointly designing exclusive collections. This trend is seen as a potential growth opportunity for the domestic fashion industry, which has been struggling with poor local demand. For example, French brand Isabel Marant released linen jackets and pintuck denim pants tailored for Korean tastes. French brand Vanessa Bruno collaborated with Korean stylist Jung Yoon-gi for a Korea-exclusive collection. Sports brand Puma teamed up with Samsung's Juun.J to create Speedcat sneakers reflecting Korean trends, selling them not just in Korea but also overseas. Meanwhile, Converse partnered with Korean sneaker YouTuber Wadiz for a special edition 'One Star Mugunghwa' sneaker, themed on South Korea's national flower, sold out quickly. This collaborative trend is attributed to the global spread of K-content, enhancing interest and recognition of Korean culture. According to a recent survey, K-fashion was considered the 'most popular foreign fashion' by 26.1% of respondents, overtaking the U.S. The domestic fashion industry sees collaboration with global brands as a way to expand and enhance distribution channels, hoping to leverage South Korea's position as a trendsetting hub to find new opportunities.
