Asiana Airlines Reports Reduced Operating Loss for Q1

Asiana Airlines announced a Q1 operating loss of 7.9 billion KRW ($5.9 million), which is a reduction of 23.3 billion KRW from the same period last year. Despite the loss, the airline achieved a record high Q1 revenue of 1.743 trillion KRW ($1.3 billion), a 6.7% increase from last year, due to increased passenger traffic and strategic flight operations. The company transitioned to a net profit of 110.8 billion KRW ($82.5 million) over the past two quarters, while their debt ratio rose significantly. Asiana plans to expand profitable routes, including new flights to Prague and increased services to Honolulu and Istanbul, and aims to boost its cargo business focusing on high-value goods such as electronic components and automotive parts. Upcoming strategies involve adapting airfreight operations to seasonal demands and U.S. tariff policies.
