The Ministry of Environment in South Korea announced that Byeolcheonji Ecological Village, located in Hadong, Gyeongsangnam-do, has been selected as February's eco-tourism destination. Close to the Jirisan National Park and the Seomjin River, the village offers sites like the Bulyi Waterfall and bamboo forest trails. Visitors can encounter an Asiatic black bear at the village returning from the wild. The Seolsan Wetland, originally a paddy field, hosts 308 species of plants and animals including species unique to Korea. The village also focuses on energy independence with facilities generating electricity from a watermill. It is near other tourist attractions like the Hwagaejangteo Market and Choe Champan's house, setting of the novel 'Toji'.
