The Gangneung Danoje Festival, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage and National Intangible Heritage in Korea, will be held from May 27 to June 3 at the Namdaecheon event venue in Gangneung. Celebrating its 20th anniversary as a UNESCO-listed event, the festival aims to symbolize growth and future development. The festival will feature traditional ceremonies, shamanistic rites (gutfan), and Korea's largest marketplace, along with various cultural performances and exhibitions. International performances from countries including Latvia, Botswana, and Japan will also be showcased. This year's festival features collaborations with the Gangneung Coffee Festival and Beach Beer Festival, and encourages visitors to wear hanbok (traditional Korean clothing) by offering incentives such as gifts and discounts. With enhanced visitor experiences through QR codes and improved accessibility, the Gangneung Danoje Festival promises to be a vibrant celebration.
