The cherry blossom grove at Woongdong Reservoir in Jinhae, South Korea, will be open to the public for the first time in 57 years during the 63rd Jinhae Gunhangje Festival this spring. Woongdong Reservoir, owned by South Korea's Ministry of National Defense, was created during the Japanese colonial period to supply water to the naval base. Underneath the reservoir, there are over 500 cherry trees, making it a stunning sight for visitors. The area had been closed since an attempt by North Korean commandos to raid the Blue House in 1968. The local government plans to implement measures to manage traffic and address concerns from residents about increased visitors.
